[CHICKENS-101] Re: broody hen thinks she's a goat

Laurie,
These particular billies are for sale as breeders - they are the
best 3 billies of last spring's crop and are worth more as breeders than as
dinner. However, I do have a small herd of wethers that I am growing out on
pasture until the meat prices go up this fall (prices always go up in the
winter as all the ethic holidays arrive) so if you are looking for one for
your freezer you can email me off list.
The rooster is now in an aviary by himself awaiting his future. We
are going to get rid of him, but I hate like the dickens to kill him because
he is so very pretty - white with striking iridescent blue blue/green tail
feathers. Roosters don't usually live very long here unless they are
really, really sweet natured but he is so strikingly beautiful. Aggressive
when breeding, but really beautiful.

I am glad the little hen found a friend.
You said you were "feeding" the billy goats out -- does that mean they are
for butchering?
My Lil White hen, was also traumatized by the rooster. He tore her up
pretty badly while mating. I had her in the house for a few months and now
she is outside in her own area with another traumatized RIH. It too a few
days, but now both ladies strut in front of the fence in front of the
rooster -- knowing they are safe and sound.
Please post a picture of the hen and billy goat.
Laurie
