Poor cockerels. After being hurt they have to make sure what is going to happen next. Stay with your routine and they'll get used to it. After getting to know you here on chickens101, I am pretty sure that all will eventually come to check you out and respond to your kindness. You're a good chicken mom.

They're really REALLY scared.  When I pick one up, he will usually settle down fine.  But doing a head count a night, they come flying off their perches in terror if we take too long to count.  Very scared.  One boy that I am very fond of came close to me this afternoon and checked me out.
