Just getting started with a flock of chickens AND guineas here. So far I have about 50 chickens, and 23 guineas. It sort of accelerated when I got to buying the critters. Nobody told me that would happen:) Original plans were for about a dozen chickens, and a dozen guineas.
Only problem was, they were all so cute, and just begged me to take em home with me. LOL
My favorites are Little Roo and Miss Fancy Pants, a pair of bantams.Of course I love the RI Reds as well, since they all think I am Mama, and will sit on my knees, shoulders, head, and chest, they fight for a place on me, when I take a chair into the yard and sit down. Also got a young pair of white silkies who are too cute for words. The barred rocks don't seem to want to be handled much yet though. Of course, they were lots older as well, so I didn't get to pet them as much as I have the others when they were living on the backporch as chicks.
Only thing is, I now have to rehome the big roosters as they seem to have it in for the silkies and want to kill them. Got them in a separate pen right now away from the flock. Their new owner will pick them up this weekend.
Just hought I'd introduce myself to the group, I'm sure I will have loads of questions to ask before too long.
