It is not the actual slaughtering of horses (or any animal as far as I am concerned,) but the way they are handled before the slaughter happens. If you have ever seen a video of what happens on the way to the slaughter house and what happens once there, it may bring it into focus a little.
I think they should do a better job of controlling what is happening in the slaughter houses, not outlaw them.
