[CHICKENS-101] Re: Keeping a plastic chicken waterer clean in summer

Hi Maryhen,

You have given two wonderful ideas that I hadn't thought of!  Putting them in the shade and freezing water for the coolness.  (Truly pampered chickens!  :)  What fun!

And when I have a few extra $$, I may like to get the metal waterer.

Thank you for writing with your tips!

Truly,

Britta

At our local supply store, I found double lined metel waters. Just rinse
them out every night and air dry, fill up in the morn. It takes some
extra time but it's well worth it. Cost about $21. Oh, another thing are
they in a shady spot, that helps. Also got a great tip from another
site, take water bottles and freeze over nite to put in the waters,
helps keep the water cooler for the hot days. Hope this helps.
