I do not kill my chickens, as they are pet as well as egg layers. But
if one was attacking, I have been known to kick or take the broom to
them. The meanest rooster I had got beaten up by a Muscovy duck, and
eventually lost use of his legs. He had to mellow out under my care,
and got to liking it when I would groom his neck. Ironically, Bo-Bo had
one final seizure in my hubby's lap. No more Cornish Rock/Leghorn
crosses for me. We miss the old booger. He was a couple of months shy
of his fifth hatch day. My favorite way of dealing with mean roosters
is dangling, then carrying them like babies, asking them in a sugary
sweet voice why they want to be so ugly when they are so pretty.
