Renee I feel your pain -- These little joys have taken over our lives also. Because our biz takes us out of town, we've had to find sitters -- not just any ol sitter mind you, but ones who are willing to walk into the coop, where there is poo on the floor --you get the picture!
Last fall we cashed in brownie points and had friends come over and help us build a coop (a grand one at that). Then we hired a college kid to come help us put in yet a bigger run, and then hired another college student to help us do some more work and it goes on and on. The ONLY reason we don't have a roo and hatched our own eggs is 1) we didn't have a broody hen (we bought buffs this year so we may have a broody next year) and 2) I had to put my foot down to my SO. We got more babies from the store and its all we can do to stay away from the store and not get more. The more chickens we get the more we want!!
So yes I feel your pain -- and I wouldn't change a second of it -- having way to much fun!
Rita

I made a run for them inside the chicken yard and put two covered cages for them to sleep in. (did they go there tonight? NO, and the dern turkeys dug a hole under their coop instead of going in, GAAK!)
