The leghorns I raised for my parents grew up and turned stupid. They went from sweet chicks that liked to be held and snuggled to scratching, dangerous idiots that run from all human contact.  They lay everyday faithfully.  Bloodlines make a difference.  The two my friend raised are from show bird stock.  The show bird stock lay everyday, but lay bigger eggs and are much more social-able than the hatchery leghorns.
