Hi Rita, Yeah RIRs can be stubborn. Once they get their twisted minds set on something it's tough to get them to change. Just be sure to count you fingers after you deal with them. :). I'm about to go through the same process of moving 8 Ameraucana chicks to new quarters at 10 weeks+. The DW and I are taking bets on the Hen or Rooster game. Right now I'm betting on 2 roosters by comb development. The DW came to the same conclusion using tail feathers. Time will tell

In the process we moved the roost from one side of the coop to the other -- all of about 4 or 5 feet. Our two RIR, which BTW are at the bottom of the pecking order in our group, have taken to spending the night on top of the little ones create. A while back one of our very insightful members mentioned to be sure and keep a tarp on top of the create which I have done --so the little girls were save from things dropping from above. I even tried to move the RIR's to the roost and they would have no part of it. So today I've moved the roost back to where it was -- Is normal behavior to be so inflexible and will the RIR go back to the roost now -- ???? Egg production hasn't changed. We are still only getting only 3 or 4 eggs from the 6 hens --its been that way for about 2 months ???
