[CHICKENS-101] Re: Starting Coop Construction Today any advise NOVICE!!!!

Why? Did you keep a light on all night too? Even if you did they probably slept through the night and wouldn't miss the water if it did freeze. And why heat them is South Texas? It gets down into single digits here and I can't even close my coops up tight enough to be able to heat them if I tried and my chickens do just fine. I've kept chickens here for 29 years this month. I've only lost a few chickens from cold and they were either very old and frail or sick. Unless it gets down well below freezing and stays there for several days on end without let up like where Ol' George lives in New Hampshire chickens don't need any heat. And there is nowhere they need light all night. And if it is dark they won't drink because they will be asleep. So why are you doing this in the dead of night anyway?
