Re: [CHICKENS-101] dandelions

Gina, I pick so many for my chickens that dandelions are actually in short supply.

I dug a bit over half a kitchen garbage bag of plants with huge leaves and roots at my parents in about 15 minutes. I'll plant them tomorrow.  I plan on getting their long leaved dandelions going here and digging up their other patches too. I only have a few of the longer leaved variety here, and many of shorter, darker, more deeply lobbed dandelions here. There is tons of lambsquarter growing here; I pull it everyday out of the garden. I looked it up, and guess what?  Please take a look at this website about the nutrition in lambs quarter.

Chickweed and

I have a large tortie but it would take 20 to take down all of my dandelions!! I have about three varieties. He likes the softer leaved ones. He also loves a large flat rosette weed and of course grass.
I sure wouldn't be looking to plant dandies, they will seed your whole neighborhood!!
