Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: What would you do???

Marla, Most police won't take poultry theft seriously even when you produce your receipts for the birds you bought. Lock up, heavy duty fencing wood screwed with pieces of oak over the windows, double wood on the edges, thick hard to cut fencing, latches hardened metal, hardened metal gate latches on the doors and storm doors on top of regular door locks and dead bolts. Extra pieces of lumber wood screwed heavily around your door frames too.

Be very careful about who sees or knows what you have and do as Cathryn says and put in locks and use them.
My uncle (who is disabled and not well off) lucked into getting some rare pigeons along with some of other pigeons a year ago. He bred them and was so proud of their offspring that he showed them off to a friend. Two days later they, their offspring, and their travel cage were gone. The latch lock was cut but they had closed the door behind their theft.
When I sell I never let people here. I meet them at a convenience store. I don't let them know even remotely where I live other than obviously somewhere in the area.
Best of luck! And get her tag number if she returns. It may be your only way of getting justice or your birds if she steals them.
