[CHICKENS-101] Re: Pullet Growth

 

Hi.Your profile identifies you as Janice so I will call you that. You must speak of maturity in general terms because individuals vary widely. Production birds bred for maximum return on an investment tend to mature sooner than the older breeds. Most of the hens sold as laying chickens such as the leghorns will start to lay around 16 weeks and will be fully grown 5 months. The older breeds such as the Wyandotte and Rocks can take a bit longer although they are faster than most bantams and game birds. A great deal depends on feed and living conditions.
