Re: [CHICKENS-101] Pet Chicken Question

I have considered it, but never tried it. I don't know if chickens would find the kind of toys sold for parrots, etc amusing. They seem to enjoy types of food that they can pick at, such as corn on the cob. Since they don't have access to bare ground, I have given them a large clod of dirt that I dug out of the garden. They seem to enjoy that too.

My chicks are pets, egg-providing pets, but pets none the less. For those of you who keep chickens as pets, do you include bird toys in their coop/cage, like those sold for other species? Rachel and Paula are still in their brooder cage, but I can't help but feel the urge to provide them with some type of enrichment activity, the same as I do my dogs (like providing them with a freshly-planted veggie garden to destroy) and my cats (bringing chickens into the family for them to stare at)....
