Re: [CHICKENS-101] New chick for me too.

I was pretty shocked.  50% has been about the average for us on Seramas, so this was amazing.  I am only hatching in my Sportsman now when I HAVE to (huge hatches).  I recently bought a Hovabator 1588 to use as my hatcher.  I have used it two weeks in a row and each time, all but 1 (last week) and 3 (this week) of the eggs that candled as probably viable have hatched.  These are hatches of about 50 chicks each. I hate cleaning it, but I'm impressed with the performance and temperature stability.

I'm running my Sportsman at lower humidity for incubation now too.  It stays about 40%.  The automatic water system is doing it's thing, but I have all of the vents halfway open, top and bottom.  It seems to be making a BIG difference.

I sent out 8 Serama eggs and 8 Polish eggs to a lady about 1 1/2 weeks ago, including 2 Serama pullet eggs from my chocolate laced girls.  ALL 16 eggs are developing!  I'm getting results of great hatches from my buyers, which is so cool!  I did purchase a wine cooler for egg storage last weekend.  It's getting too warm for storing them in a turner on the counter :-)  It's set at 54 degrees and I'm hand turning.

Wow, that's fabulous Laura! I  hope I can get better hatches when I have my own eggs!
