Re: [CHICKENS-101] Roosters with waxy looking combs

I can tell you what I would do. I would give them poultry vitamins in their water along with b complex.  Generic Vicks mixed with foot fungus ointment or cream, (cheapie from Dollar General, Family Dollar, what ever your dollar store is),on their combs. Only put a little bit at a time so it does not spread to their eyes.  Last, I would add a bit of ground up dog food, steam rolled oats, a little bit of grit, probitoics, and  mix it in their food.  In a week or two you should see an improvement.  Cathryn

I have two bantam roosters in breeding cages that have slightly swollen waxy looking combs. Their hens show no sign of this could it something to do with diet? What could it be? I have never seen this before in m-a-n-y years of raising and breeding chickens. They are eating organic layer (20%) along with their little hens. Does anyone have an idea what is going on here? There is no sign of bleeding so it it isn't due to fighting as they are alone with their hens.
