I've never had problems; especially with free-range birds; when I was in the mid-west; the worse I'd get was occasional problems with mites durng the winter; I was doing the chicken trader buy/sell thing; & would reuse the same pens over & over; depending on how many chickens/other birds I had at the time. Even with occasionally integrating strange birds into my flock; I've had few problems with disease. I've always lost birds, but never on a mass scale; except to predators.
