[CHICKENS-101] Re: hawk problem

 

Hi there,
 We have 4 Buff Orpington chicks - about 5.5 weeks old. They are currently in the basement (warm) but we have a plan to move them out in a week or 2. We have a hawk who patrols our neighborhood regularly (it also doesn't help the our neighbor feeds the pigeons), so we had planned an enclosed run in our coop design. When they are out for a while, I can let you know if it's effective or not.

 My question: at what age will chicken leave the coop via a plank to their run? 6 weeks? longer?
