Re: [CHICKENS-101] Incubator Question

It does sound like those 4 had a lot of gas built up in them. I'm candling mine tonight. Also cull any that look "moist" on the outside. Good luck with your hatch. Angelique

List,

I candled my eggs today. There is just under two weeks left until they
should start to peep. I have noticed a stronger and stronger smell, so
I suspected a rotten egg or two. I culled out eight eggs which didn't
look to have any development compared to the others. I rather
unceremoniously dumped these in my open cesspit. Four of them popped up
like bobbers. Does this mean what I think it means? These four were
about to burst?

I intend to turn off the a/c tonight and put a fan in the window to
change the air in my office to see if the smell completely goes
away...fades...stays or increases. I presume that if it goes away I got
all the bad eggs. If it fades, I might still have a bad one. If it
stays or strengthens, I can expect to have a mess to clean up.

This is my first effort at incubation, so I really don't know what to
think.

Thanks for any tips...

Stuart
