For puncture wounds, use peroxide. Birds bones are hollow and infection spreads easily. My vet told one good boiling out to make sure all matter is removed from the wound way out weighs any small amount of tissue that might be damaged slightly from one good boiling out. Vets still use peroxide, we have had this discussion before and better safe than sorry later. Remember that the antibiotic ointment is going to kill the bacteria, good and bad. Don't mess around with wounds, bits of feather, dirt, dog saliva, et... really needs to be removed from the wound.

I wouldn't use peroxide as it kills all the good and bad bacteria and makes the healing time longer. I would clean it with warm soapy water and rinse it out really good. Then put neosporin in it to help it heal.
