[CHICKENS-101] Re: Kamakazi Chicken

How big is the yard that they go out to play in? How high is the enclosure? Our girls have a nice big yard with plenty of cool water, chicken treats and toys to play with. The main area is enclosed and protected from above with chicken wire (we have a lot of red tails in the area). I love our Americaunas. We culled four of our bad boy roosters and once that was taken care of everyone was able to go outside and play nice. They were socialized early on so accept my coming and going without to much ado (except of course when I arrive with the treat bowl, then everyone wants to be first in line).

I did notice that with the hot weather, the play yard was getting picked pretty clean so I started adding fresh grass cut from the hay fields and other stuff to keep their interest. The other issue is that when the temps go up, their patience for each other's quirks goes down. Give them lots of shade and room to get out of each other's feathers.
