Same here. We are stocking up- usually do this time of year. Just stacked 210 bales of hay……….97 were Orchard Grass sq bales for $5.50 delivered and 103 were OG/Alfalfa mix for $7 bale.
DH went to tractor supply for something and called me. “They have Blue Seal Camelid Feed on sale….being discontinued. $5 a bag. 50 lb bags”…….my reply was HOLY CRAP, that is expensive feed. It normally sells for $24.95 per bag. It seems it is almost out of date.
He checked it-opened some up and it seems fine. No mold, no bugs. I told him to buy the WHOLE pallet.
We feed our alpacas and goats grain……….not a lot in the summer and more in the winter, but for $5 a bag, I can’t go wrong.
So, he came home with the whole pallet of 30 bags for $157.50…………..1500 pounds!
I think we made the deal of the season.
Don’t’ worry, we will check it very thoroughly before feeding each bag. We have a small 8 x 8 feed shed that is kept dark and holds all our feed for horse, alpacas, goats, cats, etc. It doesn’t leak and no bugs or rodents, either.
