Hi Samara: You are not OCD, it's a real problem. Many people who become sick from mishandling food, especially chicken and/or eggs, do so very quickly. Like within 15 minutes. Within a hour they are over it and haven't a clue as to how they got it. Live chickens are just as dangerous. Protection is easy WASH YOUR HANDS. My DW and my granddaughter think I'm hung up on it. They is right. This is one of the reasons I'm so against having roosters around small children. Roosters don't exactly keep their feet and spurs clean walking around the coop. A simple scratch can turn into a nightmare.

I have been cooking professionally for over 15 years now and chicken is the one meat that always freaked me out (just from what I have learned food safety) even my husband thinks I am a bit OCD with it.
