[CHICKENS-101] Re: No One Told Me!!!

I'm certainly no expert on chickens...worst of all dealing with hatching eggs!  But it sounds like you are in exactly the same position we were in when we ended up with Alex. We were throwing away all these cold eggs the hens had left, and suddenly we find one is peeping! Oh Gwad.  We couldn't throw THAT one away!  So my daughter rushed it in to the house and wrapped it in warm towels and started carefully picking the shell off. VERY carefully...some of it was still stuck to the chick.  It took a long time, but she finally got the chick out. The rest of the story is "history"...Alex will be 2 years old in October! Here's his blog:

http://alexthemanabouttown.blogspot.com/   I will tell you this though...Alex isn't as "sturdy" as a 'normal' chicken....he always looks pretty 'scruffy' and I think if nature had been allowed to take it's course, he never would have lived.

Good luck!

Deb
