[CHICKENS-101] The girls are flying!

Oh my goodness, my little peeps are quite the quick learners - Lupe flew out of the brooder box and perched on the edge this morning. She was quite impressed with herself. Obviously, I put a wire lid on the whole thing to keep any pint-sized escape artists from running away!

I think my girls are all different ages. The breeder I got them from had a ton of chicks of various sizes. I asked for the three smallest/youngest, but I'm not sure she could tell with all the cheeping going on. Maria seems quite a bit smaller and less developed than the other two. She doesn't have near as many big girl feathers yet. She looks like a tiny penguin! The lady promised me that they are all Black Star pullets, but I'm starting to think that maybe Maria is another breed! Is it possible for them to change feather color a lot between fuzzy new chick and big girl chick? The other breeds she has are Australorp and Barred Rock. It seems like that would be an easy mix up with a chick, right? Can you look at my pictures and let me know what you think? Maria has cute little white eyebrows!!!
