Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Fake eggs

AHA!! I knew it would come out from behind my left ear eventually. "The Crows of Pearblossom," by Aldous Huxley. It really is a delight! I don't know just where it is amongst my boxes and boxes of books I brought home when I retired... or I'd send it to you. But ABEbooks.com has a couple of copies for $3.47 with free shipping, and a few others for not much more.

If you're looking for good kids' books--have you ever run across any of the Little Grey Rabbit books by Alison Uttley? They are somewhat like Beatrix Potter, although the animals are more human-like than most of the Potter creatures--but thoroughly delightful nonetheless. The pictures are small and detailed, and the books small as well, just like Beatrix Potter's--and for the same reason, I imagine, to be friendly to small hands. Great to snuggle up and read to one or two for that reason. She wrote a bunch of others, too, but it was Little Grey Rabbit and her friends that I fell in love with at a young age... Oh, and they have a friend called Speckledy Hen!
