True, it's a shame that we will never know for sure. I have a cuckoo silkied serama of all colors, and one that looks like a spotted dog in it's markings. I will admit to leaning on you for info. I know silkies well, seramas I am learning. These are the cockerel straight from Jerry's chicks. Did I tell you Chex passed away from old age in his sleep, under his favorite heat lamp? I will have to keep at least one 5 month old cockerel to make sure I have his blood line. It will be warm enough this week I will be able to start letting all out before I take off for work in the mornings. I am hoping the extra outdoor time and greens will make their eggs more fertile.

Perhaps it first happened simply as a mutation in the serama line. Or, if silkies and seramas were interbred, perhaps only the offspring with silkie feathering but otherwise strict serama traits were allowed to live; all others were destroyed - as well as any in future generations that strayed from the serama traits. It really wouldn't take that long; it certainly could be done in one breeder's lifetime.
