thanks so much, Marla.  I'll see if the local library has it or can get it for me. 

 

I did take a pass through the files section of this group and noticed some nice recipes and files on some problems or even wing clipping but I didn't see anything like a "primer" to keeping chickens.  If I can suggest, maybe someone can create a file of starter resources that newbies can refer to in the way of reputable websites and books to start with.  I know there's a ton to look into at this point beyond just choosing the breed/breeds one might wish to get but housing, care, and medical responsibilities one should obviously consider.  I know my local vet cares for farm animals so I'm covered in that department already.
