Interesting looking hawky bird you got there, Gothy. I hope it goes far, far away.

[Attachment(s) from gothchickenlady included below] Was getting ready to go out to put some laundry on the line and my guineas and a few hens were flying literally towards our trailer. The guineas "cry wolf" a lot, so didn't really think much of it. Nice day, figured it was a crane or heron flying over. They fish in our crick. Get laundry hung and figured why I was out and not having chickens crowding around to move a bag of feed to the shed. Went to the shed, and noticed that my silkie roo was the only one in the run and was looking towards the crick side, banties are raising cain. Look again and there is a bird perched on the bottom of an old grill I put a board across the top of to use for this and that chicken related needs. Not a chicken. Hmmm. Run back to the trailer, grab my camera. This was feat since I'm wearing Sonny's old winter boots (winter chicken boots for me). He's like what's wrong? One word - Hawk! He thought it was something serious since our son was playing outside. Well to me it was. Close house doors on the way back down. Snap a few pics, chase off hawk. By then Sonny's outside and it's perched in one of my MIL's trees. Not big, but it could have carried off one of my banties. I grabbed an old broom that our son had dug up from somewhere and it flew off. It didn't really seem to afraid of people, I think that's due to the urban sprawl here. First time I've seen one that close and hope to not again anytime soon. Did some chking on a bird site I use frequently it's a Broad-Wing Hawk. Pretty, but not welcome.
Gothy in finally a nice Spring like day in DE
