Re: [CHICKENS-101] Chicken coops

We have a storage shed for a chicken house but we went with a vinyl one.  The panels are made exactly like cardboard boxes, with the wavy layer in the center.  Only it is all vinyl.  When we were buying one it was summer and hot.  That unit was a LOT cooler inside than the other, including metal.  Both the walls, roof and the doors are made like that.

Not only would an uninsulated metal building be cold in winter, it would be hot in summer.  In your case, would it be under a tree?  Shade would help.

Metal storage sheds are quite affordable. It gets cold in Wisconsin so I am wondering if one of these sheds would be appropriate for a night time chicken coop. Ofcourse access to the outside  run in daylight is a given & ventilation also. They would have southern exposure for the winter warmth, and shade in the summer ofcourse. I am just wondering what the feed back would be on this source of housing.
