The pox scabs is the virus coming to the surface, (if it is pox).  You do not want the scabs to be in the environment, pox can hang around for months in the scabs and dander.  I'd use something a bit stronger like betadine, et... you want it to be something that would kill the virus.  Cathryn

it helps with the healing of the scabs. i used triple antibiotic cream as a just in case thing. heather
