Folks
My heart breaks to hear these stories because they are just another sign of the times... it's not necessarily about workers not caring, but about NOT being able to care about their jobs any more. I know everyone is annoyed as all hell and should be, but folks, please know that there is a lot more to the story than "idiot postal workers". I have got to stand up for those hard working postal employees who are just as annoyed but tired of being blamed for what the "company" is forcing them to do. My mom, my Grandfather, my brother, my uncles and aunts and friends are retired or former or current postal workers. People have NO IDEA what is really going on inside the doors of a post office – that people are retiring and nobody is being hired in to pick up the slack, that bosses sit on their big butts collecting fat pay checks and demand that only one window clerk serve the public while the other window clerks are demanded to sit in back and NOT serve the public as the line of customers winds through the office and OUT THE DOOR! Or that the average clerk in back is driven into the ground doing the work of 10 people all by his/her self while three bosses sit on the butts looking at porn and cracking the whip to get ALL the work done yesterday. Our current mail man and friend spent the first ten years of his postal career with nothing but praise for jobs well done – now, he gets letters of warning and threats no matter how good a job he does. Talk about stress and it's not like his work ethic has changed – just the ignorant bosses pushing everyone to the breaking point. Please be considerate that many of these people are good hard working folks who are suffering just as much as you the receiver of these damaged packages – my mom's boss told her flat out when she went toe to toe with him about the BS the Post Office is putting out and he went right back at her and said "It's Corporate America – DEAL WITH IT". Gone are the days of true service because the workers are not being allowed to provide that service anymore. There's way too many pencil pushers and too few actual workers doing their very best under awful conditions, people.

Hi All, I don't know what has happened to the good service we used to get from our post offices. The new employees do not take any pride in what they do even though they make decent wages, have a good vacation plan, and a good retirement system in place.
