Rowdy Girls Ranch

HI,
I have four Buff Orpington hens that have been real consistent now at giving an egg each a day (their 7 months old). All of a sudden four days ago we started getting one egg that is light tan in color and the shell is extremely rough, like 60 grit sand paper rough. I have not opened them to check if there is any change in the egg it's self. Should I be concerned ?
The only change I know of is two weeks ago I purchased new feed and scratch at the local feed store. They had organic feed from Ranch-Way Feeds of Fort Collins CO. Honestly, I have not been impressed with the feed. It came in plastic lined paper bags that I transferred to plastic buckets. Every time I take the lid off to scoop some out I think it smells rancid (like my iron Dutch oven if it hasn't been used for months). There is no sign of mold or bugs, it just smells funny. They haven't been impressed with the scratch either. When I toss it out they pick at it a bit and then ignore it. Not like my last bag (which I think was from Purina) that they went after with a vengeance. I'm thinking maybe I should toss this feed into the compost and go for a different brand. Your thoughts?
