[CHICKENS-101] Re: Buff Orpington's vs. Australorps- broody at the same time?

MY old gal, is an araucana, we re-named her momma, she has gone broody same time for the last 2 years, late May. Hatching 1 cockeral the first year. Then last year 10 chooks successfully out of 13 eggs,2 were cockerals the rest hens(bantams) the 8 bantams are gold laced wyandotte, silver partridge pekin, silver laced Wyandotte, choc Wyandotte, blue columbian & black frizzles.
Well the gold laced Wyandotte has decided she wants to play momma! It is Jan. I know here in the uk we have had some pretty mild weather this winter but I certainly did not think that they would consider going broody so soon, She is only 7 months old! We have not got a cockeral (all ours we successfully re-homed) so we'll have to buy in fertile aggs again like we did for our big girl momma.
So I am guessing they go broody at different times :)Jane & co
