From my experience, geese on free range will lay in any secluded area that suits them...just have to keep an eye out for the geesie goosers who don't come in at night which indicates their setting on a nest somewhere.
Since I don't have a gander and the eggs are not fertilized, I pull the eggs...they're good eatin' ;)
When you only have hens, no point in allowing them to set for weeks on unfertilized eggs. However, be forewarned in snatching eggs...they will fight to the death in preventing you from doing this and I have the battle scars to prove it!
