My eldest hen that should be starting to lay is an Easter chick white leghorn... This is pullet I would guess is starting to lay and laid you an olive colored egg.

I finally got my first egg! Now I'm confused though. My eldest hen that should be starting to lay is an Easter chick white leghorn... I thought they only lay white eggs?<br><br>The middle hens that have just about lost all their baby feathers are (I think I bought them as young pullets the first week of July):<br>1 production red<br>1 buff orpington<br>1 black australorpe<br>2 barred rocks (they still have quite a bit of baby feathers and are a little smaller)<br><br>My youngest I bought in August as a pullet: 1 Americana<br><br>I'm still really green in chickens but I thought it would be winter sometime before even my middle hens were ready to lay... how in the world did I get an olive colored egg? It is I'd say a medium sized egg.<br><br>Thanks,<br>Em
