Nancy, you have been given some good advice I can't stress more than you have alrady been told, you need to take them in at night to get used to where they need to be to protect them from predators, and there are LOTS od them. If you can get to the underneath of the coop with ease, then I would not close it off aS IT WILL PROVIDE SHELTER FOR THEM FROM RAIN, & SUN.(sorry I caps locked) butit needs to be easy tpo get to incase they lay eggs there. Keeping them inside the coop for 1 week is a good idea, but make sure they have plenty of food & water or they might fight badly! Good luck. Jane & co

We are wanting to close off the underneath of the coop for the winter in order to keep the coop warmer. Should we concerned? Will these little Ladies go inside the coop when it gets cold or will they want to continue to stay outside?

Will this stop once the Brahmas and Cochins start laying? Will the B&C's get a bit more aggressive about getting into the nests? We have plenty of nests available and the coop is plenty big for everyone.

I think we have done just about EVERYTHING wrong according to the 'experts', but we are getting eggs every day and for the most part, everyone is happy and healthy and we are loving every minute of it!!
