You made me remember I need to get my straw bales back where they belong. My egg layers use them to jump up and down from their roost. Though tonight one of the white rock hens left the roost and is in the coop house with the heat lamp.

Yes I am back to normal.. .as far as the bumblefoot.. I have seen vids of less invasive methods working with less severe cases but hers seemed to be pretty bad so we went the route of a scalpel. She is resting comfortably in the basement and has eaten the apple and oatmeal we gave her but has not touched the food much ( but as free rangers they dont eat much of the pellets anyway)
She gave us an egg this after noon so far, so good.
Also, the chickens are more my husbands thing, and that is how he wanted to handle it. ..I have heard of some success with a topical ointment called magnesium sulfate I want to look into for fresher cases and we are going to do a complete foot inspection this weekend to see if there are any other cases brewing...
On the flip side (non chicken related) my car power steering went out on my way out to run errands today, so I am carless and may have to have my husband drive me to work until they have the part to fix it ( I live 50 miles from work, so this is gonna be interesting)
having a crazy mixed up weekend thats for sure!

> Hi Lisa, Hope you feel better. You do not have to cut on your chicken's foot; in fact it's not a good idea to do so. You can spread the infection. I have had good luck with washing the foot with soap and water well. Soaking it in warm epson salt water for 5-10 minutes. Mix a grape size glob vick or generic vicks or bacitracin with a drop o
