Helps to have a light on, on the inside. My dumb chicks didn't want to go into their barn because it was darker than outdoors. Birds cannot see well at all once light starts to fade to dusk. I hung a red lizard heat bulb and in every one went.

Hi Melanie, Well you'll never know if you don't try. LOL. Let 'em out and if they don't go back at night you can try it again. It's important to wait until it's really gets dark before checking on them. They wait until the last possible moment then all go in together. When they get a little older and use to you herding them around it will be easier. Be careful of what you read on the net. Last week I found out 2 guys were sailing around the world and fell off the edge. I've been there and there's no way someone could fall off, There's a big fence.

I have read on the net that you just need to lock them in for 3 days and after that they know to go in there to sleep, then I had someone else tell me 2 weeks. SO I'm totally confused. I thought about letting them out Saturday, is that too soon?
