Good Morning, all! Gotta share a terrific experience I had yesterday. This August, Southern Living Magazine is running an article about keeping backyard chickens. Southern Living contacted me and our Conyers Backyard Meetup Group was asked to participate!
Yesterday we had a Chicken photo shoot at our Stock Market feed and country store. What an experience. Matthew Benson, a terrific photographer from NYC flew down to do the shoot. There swre several peopls from the magazine there also. Our members brought about 12 different breeds of backyard chickens, including a champion Serama roo that is a big showoff! We had Auracaunas, Light and Dark Brahmas, Swedish Flower, Buff Orps, RIR, Wheaton Marans, Blue Lace Wyandotte, and of course my white Silkies, and a couple more I have forgotten. There were also eggs for each breed.
What a great time! You should have seen the chickens showing off for the camera. Especially Napoleon, the Serama roo! When the August issue of the magazine comes out we will be looking to see which pics they choose for the article. They also did a chicken photo shoot in Dallas, Texas. After the magazine is published in August we will be able to have the pics of our chickens. you can look up Matthew Benson's photos on google if you want. He does some really good work.
Something came out of the shoot that I need your help with. Matthew would like to add some quality Black or Blue Copper Marans to his flock in New York. He would like to have real dark eggs. Do any of you know a good breeder in the east coast area? Please let me know if you have any chicks or eggs or know of anyone that does. He would prefer to buy locally. Appreciate your help.
