Re: [CHICKENS-101] Eating Their Own Eggs!

Egg eating is almost impossible to break.  I would stop the corn in the summer because it builds up inner heat and they don't need it in the hot weather.   Do they get any greens, scraps from your table?  I feed mine spinach, etc. but in very small amounts, maybe a couple of times a week.  They also get left overs a couple of times a week if we have them.  Don't give them onions, or garlic because that can effect the taste of the eggs.  Some people do not give their chickens citrus but mine seem to love it with no negative problems.  They don't get much.  They like apples, cabbage, cooked noodles (what a sight to see them fight over it).  All these things are treats only and do not take the place of good quality laying pellets. Make sure the feed is up to date and fresh.  I use Southern States which is reasonably priced, and they carry an organic feed in some areas.  My hens love it.  If I had a feed mill close by I would have mine made
up.  I put Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and/or Braggs Amino Acids in their water 2 times a week.  I put a shot glass full (an ounce) per gallon of water.  It may take a few days for them to get used to the light taste in the water, but they will drink it.   It is very important to have lots of cool, clean water.

After doing all the correct things for your chickens and they still are egg eaters, I would find some delicious chicken recipes and they would be gone.  Let us know if anything works for you.

They are eating Laying Pellets and cracked corn.
Yes, there are several places they can lay.
