George, I'd have a head to toe space suit or something similar on if you do try to pet it and make sure it can't escape in case it bites. Rabies shots and banned from the house would not be pleasant. Cathryn
Congratulations, George, you too now have skunkies. We love our skunkie darlings. You can provide it with food and water over the winter and it is not likely to spray. They only do this as a last resort. Also there are no baby skunks at this time of year. Babies are born in May and it's now November! If it gets used to you, you can pet it while it is eating. It's also possible it is someone's pet that escaped, and descented and spayed/neutered. Georgia
