Cathryn ,
I think some of those jerks like you have at the feed mill are mentally living in the darkages (lol) . Our local feed mills went out of business many years back . But i still see some of those type people working at one of the local lumber supply companies here .
We have never been able to get blue seal feeds .
I see the farmer's type feed mills on craigslist often .... it grinds mixes but some of them require a tractor to work off .
I've allways wanted a good grinder like the gamecock pros used to have ... i think they still make them , if i can find one online i'll let you know .

We have blue seal here but it is all outdated. I asked the store to get fresh and the company sent them the same date. The feed was made in mid May. I wish I could get it here and get it fresh made. I am tired of commuting 402 miles for a load of feed for chicks . Had a feed problem last time I had feed made there and had to make the trip return it. (They did pay 120 of my gas - another weekend with zero work done.) The Hubbard guy had the calcium 3 times what it should be for egg layers and it was supposed to be chick feed. I had to have the feed elevator make it again and again the Hubbard guy who advises them messed up. They are a garbage feed company in my opinion because they went to zero animal protien and all soy based. I have a lead on a company that carries all organic and is only an hour away, and uses and carries fertrell products. I am praying Uncle Lukes can find me a grinder and bagger.
I am jealous of your being able to get organic feed that suits your chicken's needs locally.Cathryn rainbowsilkiesTM in Michigan
