I also have lots of cats and I have never seen them bother the chickens. I saw one cat approach some chicks and when mama hen went after her, she totally ran for the hills.
I sure hope that anyone shooting cats really KNOWS they are killing their chickens.

I doubt it was a cat. We have free ranging chickens, ducks and guineas and we have feral and tame cats and though they didn't grow up together te cats have never even attempted to attack the chickens. We have lost a couple of chickens to a stupid hawk though. I really hate the hawks and owls. Te hawks are around during the day and the owls come out in the evening before the girls go to bed.We also lost a guinea to a fox.The feral cats actually hang out with the ducks, weirdest thing ever. The ducks don't like us but they like the cats. Our temporary house chicken actually went after our house cats - even surrounded the chicken still went after each one and they were petrified after that of her!
Sent from my iPhoneOne of my red splash sexlink pullets came up missing yesterday. I think it might have been a roaming cat I've seen hanging in the distance. I have yet to find any evidence of a murder but she did not come to roost last night. My other sexlink was there and they are normally stuck together like glue. Any advice on what to do with feral cats? I'd shoot it but it is never that still long enough. I just get glimpses of it. Has anyone had success trapping them? My chickens free range during the day and I like it that way. I didn't think I would be this sad over losing one of my girls but I am lol!
Thanks,
Em
