I heard that 8 hens to 1 rooster was a good ratio.

How many hens can a roo breed?   Would 12:1 work?  I did have like 5 roos to 12 hens over the winter that was to much.  So I took all the roos out but one. I left a phoenix  with the 12 mix hens.  After I took the rest of the roos out how long do I have to wait for the phoenix to be dad. Lol.  I have eggs hatching now and so far they are looking like phoenix mix.
