We have a GLW hen, and while she is prissy and give a little "dont touch me" peck, that is all the grief she has given me..
as far as preventing attacks? I would think something that catches them off gaurd like a good squirt with the hose or a whack (like with a soft broom) would help.. ( something firm enough to show you mean it but not so bad they get hurt... .
Thankfully we have not experienced too much of that yet..
