I ordered from Ideal, and all my baby chicks were alive. I have ordered twice from them and have gotten some great looking chicks. All the hens were hens, extra roosters to keep them warm. I was quite happy with them. My biggest order was 24 chicks.
Maybe it was the mail delivery system that held up your chicks?
