Our RIR Roo has been #1 bird since he came out of the shipping box.. the first to greet us, the first to jump up on our lap/shoulders/head following us around everywhere.. ( even inside for awhile to watch a movie with hubby.. that was a sight!)
but he was probably about last on the chickens pecking order... so when we started culling the extra roos.. there was a couple weeks where he moved up the ladder very quickly to be #2 Roo
(our White Rock Cosmic Charlie has always been in charge of the girls, so we let him stay)
During that transition time the RIR (Stewie is his name) bit both myself and my husband.. HARD with malice.. ( not just a curiosity peck)
we swatted him but good each time and now order has been restored... he is back to being the the sweet roo we raised.. (but we WATCH him just in case!)
We are hoping this was only him figuring out his place and he will stay sweet, but if not, Stewie will be stewed.
