Ah, but you can soak that corn in lye water to remove the husk and make hominy out of it. Hominy fried in lots of bacon grease and lots of black pepper is a wonderful meal with a slice or two of buttered home made bread.
You can also parch the corn kernels in your oven and eat them for snacks. Sort of like this:
