I do feed mine a mixture of Wholemeal bread, Cooked rice, cooked spaghetti, maybe some cooked & mashed eggs & some times sardines all mixed in then final touch porridge (cooked or uncooked) all ,mixed in thoroughly. They love it. Plus extra veg they nick from the compost.
They have that once or twice a week depending on the severity of weather.
I have 30 chooks at the mo, & we are only getting 3 to 6 eggs a day. We have a few large hybrid old timers laying very irregularily.
Some bantams from last year laying infrequently & this years new gals just starting to lay.
You will find that they lay a lot less in winter because of the shorter day light hours.
Some people like to install a light to give them extra hours of light so the laying does not decrease.
I like to give ours a rest, according to nature.
My freind who has 16 chooks had to buy her eggs this week. We are just about getting enough to keep us in eggs for a week at a time.
